  • Positive Input Ventiation (PIV) Sytem Stockists Bristol

    Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) Stockists

At Ablectrics we have seen a growing intrest in Positive Input Ventilation systems so we thought we would explain what these are and how they can benefit your home.

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) also sometimes known as positive pressure ventilation work as a whole house ventilation system and create fresh and healthy living environments by supplying fresh, filtered air into a property at a continuous rate throughout. Ventilation is mainly used to control indoor air quality by diluting and displacing indoor pollutants; it can also be used for purposes of thermal comfort or dehumidification. Positive Input Ventilation or PIV Systems work by encouraging the movement of air from inside to outside from a unit that is usually installed in a loft. These units reduce or eliminate surface condensation altogether by replacing humid stagnant air with fresh filtered air. Please contact us for pricing, we can supply both National Ventilation or Vent axia versions.

National Ventilation Monsoon Energysaver Positive Input - Loft

    What is Positive Input Ventilation?

PIV is a highly effective cure for condensation dampness and its associated problems within residential properties. It pushes harmful air out of the home and replaces it with fresh, filtered air.

National Ventilation Monsoon Energysaver Wall Positive Ventilation System

How does Positive Input Ventilation work?

PIV works by drawing fresh air in through the unit that’s usually, but not always, installed in your loft. This air is then filtered and gently diffused at ceiling level, creating a positive pressure within the home that forces air pollutants out through the natural leakage gaps found in every UK property, both old and new.

When would you recommend using a PIV unit?

Positive input ventilation is a highly trusted, cost-effective, and simple solution to ensure clean air flows freely throughout your home, making poor indoor air quality a thing of the past. PIV units are used for a few different reasons, including the displacement of indoor pollutants, including stagnant and humid air. The installation of PIV units is generally recommended if you’re not looking to carry out a full renovation of your home yet require ventilation throughout the dwelling without removing any walls.

Benefits of using a PIV System

Cheaper Than Running Dehumidifiers or Air Conditioners - The job of a dehumidifier is to remove humidity in the air. Air conditioning systems do the same thing, but they can also produce icy-cold air. One major disadvantage of using either dehumidifiers or air conditioners is that they cost a lot of money to operate.

In contrast, positive input ventilation systems are significantly cheaper to run. The most you can expect to pay is a mere one to two pence per day.

Reduced Condensation and Mould Growth Prevention - Perhaps the most significant advantage of positive input ventilation is how it helps diminish and eradicate condensation in any household. That’s because there’s a constant flow of fresh, filtered air into the home that reduces humidity levels.

What’s more, as the filtered air gets heated before being displaced into a home’s living spaces, mold spores cannot easily form on surfaces due to a lack of condensation.

Householders Can Enjoy Improved Health - If you or anyone else in your family experiences problems with breathing, one of the most significant benefits of a PIV system is how everyone will enjoy improved health.

When mold appears, it isn’t just unsightly; it can also cause musty smells in homes. If people breathe in those smells, it can exacerbate respiratory conditions like asthma and, in some extreme cases, even cause those conditions to occur in otherwise healthy individuals.

Virtually No Maintenance Required - One of the biggest complaints about using dehumidifiers and air conditioners is how they require constant maintenance. For example, air vents will often need cleaning and dust removing from them, and split air conditioners need annual system maintenance. The beauty of using a PIV system in your home is that there is virtually no maintenance required. They are fully autonomous systems, and they only need filter replacements every three or five years, depending on where they get installed
